A Deep Dive into the Winemaker's Craft
The Winemaker Experience starts in the vineyard, where we pour you a glass of our white wine right between the rows of vines. We talk about our terroir, our grape varieties and the seasonal work that shapes each harvest. Depending on the time of year, you'll get hands-on with real vineyard tasks: leaf removal, suckering, or harvest. Gloves are provided.
We then head into the cellar to walk through the key stages of winemaking, from grape to wine, including fermentation in concrete tanks and barrel aging.
The experience wraps up in the barrel cellar with a commented vertical tasting of our red wines, paired with a gourmet board of sweet and savory local products.
Your guide is entirely dedicated to your group, and we tailor the content to your background and curiosity.
Vertical Tasting and Local Flavors
Vintage after vintage, a vertical tasting is a journey through time. Together we explore how the aromas evolve, how the texture changes, how the terroir speaks differently depending on the year. A rare and personal way to understand what a wine truly becomes over time.
The gourmet board is put together with local producers we have carefully selected: AOP cheeses, local charcuterie, artisan breads and sweet treats. Please let us know about any food allergies when booking.
Practical Information
Part of this experience takes place outdoors in the vineyard. Comfortable shoes (sneakers or hiking shoes) are strongly recommended. Gloves are provided for the hands-on vineyard activities.
The vineyard portion can be challenging for guests with limited mobility. We can adapt the route upon request. Please let us know when booking. Strollers are not suitable for this part of the visit.
An indoor play area is available for children under parental supervision, and a fruit juice is offered during the tasting.
Wine tasting is reserved for guests aged 18 and over.
Château Haut-Lagrange is located in Léognan, 15 km south of Bordeaux, easily accessible by car and by bike. Free semi-shaded afternoon parking is available on site.
The Winemaker Experience is available Monday through Friday, and on Saturdays upon request. Simply send us a message using our contact form. Please book at least 72 hours in advance. Our team will get back to you within one business day.
We accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies. Please let us know when booking.
Cancellation policy: cancellation or rescheduling possible up to 24 hours before the visit. We kindly ask that you arrive 5 minutes before your scheduled time. Late arrivals may result in a shorter experience.
